Skell Class Blog

Welcome to the Skell Class blog!
In English, we continued to read the book ‘From Tadpole to Frog.’ We shared information about frogs and made an information poster. We thought of questions we could ask a frog. Phoebe asked, ‘How does the froglet's tail go away?’ Etta asked, ‘Why are tree frogs feet red?’ Everyone was able to ask a question. We then used our questions to play a hot seating game and naked the frog!
In Maths, we have continued to explore the composition of 10. We have identified when 2 equal parts combine to make a whole, we have identified doubles. We used the stem sentence ‘This is a double because ___ is a part and ___ is a part.’
In Phonics, we have been reading and writing words containing our previously taught sounds. We have read and written the words join, turn, cool, river and waiting.
We have recapped the tricky words: you, they, into, push, all, my. We have written sentences such as ‘The moon is up high.’
In Learning Means the World we have looked at wild animals and where they live. We suggested animals live in a forest because ‘there are lots of bugs for animals to eat.’ ‘Owls like to live in trees.’
In RE, we have continued to look at Easter. We created Easter gardens to share the Christian story of how Jesus was buried in the tomb and came back to life.
We all enjoyed taking part in the All Stars cricket session in PE. Vinny said ‘I liked hitting the ball,’ Tommy said ‘ I liked running and counting my runs.’
In provision, we have created frog information books, found domino doubles and created butterfly doubles. We enjoyed using the tweezers to put pompoms onto the giant poppit. Did paper weaving and created frog collages. We enjoyed painting water lilies and took inspiration from the artist Monet.
