The Ribble Report

We have had a busy another busy week in Ribble.

This week, has been incredibly PE focused. A three-day streak of physical education, starting with netball on Monday and then Wednesday we did orienteering too! A particular highlight was Tuesday’s cricket workshop led by Joe from Yorkshire Cricket Club.

Another real treat was our Wednesday morning science lesson. The children thoroughly enjoyed creating "dirty" water using pebbles and sand, then used sieving and filtering techniques to see how effectively they could clear the debris. Despite our efforts, the water did not look drinkable by the end, but we did our very best and learnt a lot along the way.

During the week, our English lessons continued to be inspired by the adventures of Ernest Shackleton. We have been focusing on using diverse adverbials to bring more detail to our writing, while also expanding our Antarctic vocabulary. Words such as: growlers, hummock, foresail and crow's next.

Meanwhile, in Maths, we have been diving deep into percentages. It has been wonderful to witness the students' progress as they mastered finding equivalent fractions and decimals for various amounts. The growth in their understanding over the past few weeks has been wonderful and lots of the children were very proud of their end of unit assessments too!
