Skell Class Blog

Welcome to the Skell Class blog!
In English, we read the book ‘Hello Spring.’ We discussed signs of Spring and went on a Spring hunt around the outdoor area. ‘ ‘I liked taking photos on the iPad,’ said Georgie. ‘I found a daisy,’ said Sebastian. ‘I found daffodils,’ said Tommy. Theo explained, ‘The leaves are starting to grow.’ We talked about how the weather is getting a little bit warmer, and we can wear thinner coats.
We have created spring information books and made a map of the spring treasures we have found.
In Maths, we have continued to explore the composition of 10 and continued with doubling. We sorted objects into different groups: ‘These are all green,’ ‘These are wooden.’ We talked about the similarities and differences between objects. We have started to look at odd and even numbers and created odd tops and even tops from number blocks.
In Phonics, we have been reading and writing words containing our previously taught sounds. We have read and written the words hear, park and born.
We have recapped the tricky words: was, you, they, into, my, by, all. We have read sentences such as ‘I can see the car in the dark.’
In Learning Means the World we have looked at unusual homes. We found out about castles. ‘Kings and queens live in castles,’ said Phoebe. ‘Castles are built on hills so they can see the army's coming.’ said Lewis. ‘A drawbridge helps keep people out of the castle,’ said Alice. Freddie explained that the Knights use bows and arrows to defend the castle.’ We built our own castles in the construction area.
We have enjoyed Easter crafts this week. We made Easter bonnets, cards, bunny bags and playdough chicks and Easter nests. We had fun on our Easter egg hunt. The bunny bags came in useful when collecting the eggs.
We hope you all have a lovely Easter break!
