Curriculum Information

Please see below to find out what your child will be learning about during Autumn 2.

English: No-Bot and Mrs Armitage and the Big Wave - Children will write a story about losing a body part after reading No-Bot. They will then read Mrs Armitage and the Big Wave to create their own funny story with a cumulative structure.

Maths: Addition and Subtraction - We will continue to focus on developing addition and subtraction skills.

RE: Why does Christmas matter? - Students will explore the significance of Christmas and examine why it holds such fundamental importance within the faith.

Science: Materials - Pupils will identify everyday objects made from materials such as wood, paper, cardboard, brick, rock, plastic, glass, metal, and fabric. They will also investigate whether these various materials can change shape under different conditions.

Computing: Digital Photography - Pupils will explore how cameras have evolved and how lighting and adjustments can improve a photo. They will also learn practical tips for taking good pictures alongside key online safety dangers.

Geography: Would you prefer to live in a hot or cold place? - Students will explore the world's continents, the equator, and the earth's coldest regions to compare life in different climates. They will use this knowledge to evaluate whether they would prefer to live in a hot or cold location.

DT: Cooking and Nutrition: Balanced Diet - Children will explore cooking, nutrition, and food groups to understand what makes a balanced diet. They will put this into practice by designing, making, and evaluating their own healthy wrap.

Music: Musical Storytelling - Children will discover musical storytelling by using various instruments to express narrative themes and emotions.

PE: Dance and Send and Return - Lessons will focus on developing movement and creative expression through dance. Pupils will also practice fundamental physical mechanics through send and return activities.

PSHE: Being Me in My World - Children will focus on personal identity, self-awareness, and their sense of belonging through the topic "Being Me in My World."

Home school communication, both to celebrate the good things and tackle any problems or concerns, is essential in ensuring the very best education for your child. Parents, please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher via admin@htceschools.co.uk

As part of our whole school commitment to wellbeing, there is no expectation on our staff to read or answer emails sent between 6pm and 8am in the week, or any at weekends or holidays.  Should your email not receive a reply, this is not a case of being impolite but one of choosing wellbeing ahead of workload.
