Statement of Intent

Our music curriculum is designed to nurture a lifelong love of music in every child by placing creative expression and performance at the heart of our school community. Our goal is for every pupil to leave our school as a confident, reflective performer with a strong foundation of musical skills and a lasting appreciation for the arts.

We provide a rich, practical musical education that captivates pupils through singing, using instruments, composing, musical notation and engaging with a variety of musical genres. Through exploring music from across the world and diverse traditions, children broaden their cultural understanding and creative horizons.

Our curriculum goes beyond the classroom to offer high-impact, real-world experiences:

• Enriched Partnerships: We work closely with Ripon Cathedral and participate in Young Voices, offering children unforgettable opportunities to perform in grand venues and large-scale arenas.
• Community Connection: We actively embed music in the local community, bringing shared joy through local events and performances and collaborative relationships with local musical organisations.
• Instrumental Pathways: Private music lessons are made available to support individual talents and deeper skill development.
