Please see below for what we are learning about this half term. 

English: Meerkat Mail – Children will explore the picture book Meerkat Mail to learn how authors drop hints, use humour, and vary present-tense verbs to express a character's journey. Using these skills, the children will research animal families, map out their own original journey, and write a creative series of postcards from a travelling animal's perspective.

Maths: Place Value – Children will deepen their understanding of numbers up to 1,000 by visually representing, partitioning, and ordering 3-digit numbers using hundreds, tens, and ones. Through practice on number lines and counting in 50s, children build fluency in finding 1, 10, or 100 more and less while learning to accurately compare and estimate values.

Science: Skeletons and Movement – Children will discover how our skeletons protect key organs, support our bodies, and work with joints to help us move. They'll also compare different animal skeletons (exploring endoskeletons, exoskeletons, and hydrostatic types) to learn how living things are grouped and classified.

RE: What do Christians learn from the Creation story? – Children will explore the story of Creation to learn why Christians believe God made the world. They will look at how this story teaches people to care for nature, value our planet, and treat the Earth with respect.

History: Would you prefer to have lived in the Stone Age, Bronze Age or Iron Age? Children will travel back in time to explore how life in Britain changed from the Stone Age through to the Iron Age. By looking at ancient sites like Skara Brae and early tools, they will discover how new metals, farming, and trade transformed everyday life over thousands of years.

Computing: Connecting Computers – Children will explore what digital devices are, how they process information, and how inputs and outputs work together. They will also investigate how devices connect across school networks and the wider world, discovering how connected technology helps us share data and work together every day.

Music: Ballads – Children will explore storytelling through song by identifying the key features of a ballad, writing their own rhyming verses, and performing them fluently in tune and in time with expressive actions.

PSHE: Being Me in My World Children will focus on building a positive classroom community by getting to know one another and creating a supportive learning environment. They will explore rules, rewards, and consequences to shape their ideal "dream school," while taking ownership of their shared Learning Charter and discovering ways to care for nature outdoors.

PE: Gymnastics & Invasion Games (Tag Rugby) and Gymnastics - Children will develop core strength, balance, and sequence-building in gymnastics while building teamwork, tactical awareness, and non-contact evasive skills in tag rugby
