See below for what Year 5 are learning about this half term.
English: Incredible Edibles - Writing instructions using adverbials of time and number, and multi-clause sentences.
Maths: Place Value + Addition and Subtraction - Comparing, ordering and rounding numbers up to 1,000,000 as well as using formal methods to carry out addition and subtraction problems.
Science: Forces and Space - Exploring a range of contact and non contact forces such as water resistance, air resistance, gravity, before moving on to space where we will learn about the solar system and how it influences our lives.
RE: What does it mean if God is holy and loving? - We will be investigating how God is described in the bible and how it may impact Christians' lives.
History: Were the Vikings raiders, traders or something else? - Immersing ourselves into the lives of Viking settlers and raiders by learning how they lived and ways they have changed history.
Computing: Systems and Searching - Learning about computer networks, the internet and how to use them to effectively to find information.
Music: Draw inspiration from the power of nature, pupils compose short melodies to reflect different moods of the sky.
French: Practising a variety of French greetings and learning how to introduce ourselves. Choosing the correct greeting based on the time of day and asking someone how they are.
PSHE: Being Me in My World. Looking at the year ahead, our rights and responsibilities and having a Learning Charter
PE: Gymnastics and Tag Rugby.
Guided Reading: The Promise and Cool - Drawing inferences, making comparison locating key evidence in texts.
Spellings - Practising words with a range of suffixes e.g.,-ous, -al, -ant, -ance, -y.
