Ripon Library, a Gigantic Cheque and More!

On Monday morning, the class spent some time with Mr. Brightwell, who really enjoyed finding out more about our fantastic class!

On Tuesday, the class walked down to Ripon Library. We had a brilliant time writing some super poems and exploring the wonderful literary adventures available in the books. Children explored picture books, non-fiction books, chapter books, graphic novels, and more, and would have happily curled up with a book for much longer if we hadn't had to get back for home time! Fenn was really, really excited to find some books by Dav Pilkey he hadn't already read!

On Wednesday afternoon, the class went to their new classroom at the Juniors. We spent nearly an hour learning how to use Times Tables Rock Stars. Each child had a Year 5 to work with, and the encouragement from them, and new friendship links being made, were absolutely wonderful to see. Several Year 5s sought me out to share how brilliantly their Year 2 child was doing. To cap Wednesday off, we had visitors in from Ripon Walled Gardens at the end of the day. They shared how very, very appreciative they are of our donation and had a giant cheque to reveal the amount. Year 2  raised a staggering £1420! Thank you so much, once again, for the incredibly kind donations.

Of course, our learning has continued as well! In Maths, we have been interpreting pictograms, and in English, we have been changing verbs into different tenses and learning about the key features of a biography. In Learning Means The World, we  explored the life of Walt Disney and looked at how he showed resilience when he found things hard. We applied this to our own lives, looking at things we find difficult and what we can do ourselves in those situations.
