A Return to Josephine Baker

Please see the photo above of last week's visit from Ripon Walled Gardens to say thank you for our fantastic fundraising.

At the end of the week, the children explored the remarkable art of Christy Brown, an artist with cerebral palsy who painted with his feet, by having a go at painting with their feet themselves. We hope you enjoyed the art they brought home. It certainly helped the children to understand what a skilled and talented painter he was.

In maths this week, the children have been building on previous learning about half, quarter and full turns, by adding in left, right and clockwise, and anti-clockwise. It was most impressive, and it's always fun to do some active maths!

In English, we are using the structure of a biography that we learned with Amelia Earhart, to write a class biography of Josephine Baker. It was fantastic to return to her and see how much the class could remember about her remarkable life!

We also squeezed in another trip to do some Times Tables Rockstars work with next year's Year 6, which led straight into a very sunny lunchtime at the Junior School. It was great to see so many parents, and the children absolutely loved having the run of the large Junior School field  lunchtime!
