Monday saw Esk class dressed up and ready to celebrate as we had our Christmas party. The hall was filled with music, laughter, and some very impressive dance moves. It was wonderful to see everyone celebrating together and getting into the festive spirit. Bobbie loved moving around and shaking her hips! Hannah loved dancing with her friends and having lots of fun. Finn liked the party because they got some sweets!

We have come to the end of our Learning Means the World unit of 'Athens v Sparta' we found out about some Greek Gods and Goddesses before choosing our favourites to write about.  We looked at the legacy of the Ancient Greeks, discovering and discussing how their ideas on government, sports, and architecture still influence our lives today. Stanley enjoyed learning all the facts about Ancient Greece. Elsie enjoyed learning about the Gods and Goddesses and how the most powerful ones lived on Mount Olympus.

In our PSHE (Personal, Social, Health, and Economic) lesson, we put our resilience to the test. The mission? To build a table, using only a sheet of A4 paper, that was strong enough to hold a glue stick. There were a few collapsed attempts and "back to the drawing board" moments, but, inspired by the famous story of Robert the Bruce,  we showed incredible perseverance and learned that mistakes are just stepping stones to success! Wren enjoyed the challenge of the task and learnt how extra folding created more strength. Mason found it annoying when it didn’t work but might try it again!

In Maths, we have been sharpening our multiplication and division skills. Our focus this week was multiplying and dividing by 4. We used a range of strategies, including 'rolling numbers' and repeated addition to explore the four times table and its corresponding division facts.

What an end to a wonderful first term in Year 3. We hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and we look forward to seeing you all in January for even more exciting learning.

    Happy Christmas!
