This week we started our new English topic. We have been watching Mog’s Christmas Calamity. A story about a cat and how series of mishaps cause chaos on Christmas Day. We have been writing about what we think Mog is feeling and identifying all the different verbs in the story so we can use them in our own writing. Bobbie-Mae liked how Mog somehow managed to call the Fire Brigade. Wren liked the way Mog’s owners thought she had saved the day when in fact it was Mog who had caused all the problems.
We have made a class advent calendar so we can open an envelope each day and answer a Christmas quiz question as we count down to the big day. We each decorated an envelope with Christmas scenes or Christmas theme items. Oscar J liked drawing a snowman, Elf and a Christmas tree with presents. Stanley is enjoying it when we take a picture down and have a question to answer.
Our clay pots have spent the last week drying and this week have painted them black all over. Once this has dried, next week, we will add the gold detail to really make our clay work look like Ancient Greek pottery! Poppy had fun painting them black. Mason liked the painting because it was messy!
We went to Holy Trinity Church to begin rehearsing the Year 3/4 Nativity this week. Already it sounds fantastic and Year 4 are brilliant, so we are really looking forward to getting our costumes on and performing it to a live audience. Elsie enjoyed seeing the Angel in the story and how she was always in trouble. Finn likes going to the church and is looking forward to being a fluffy sheep!
