Esk News

Welcome to our Esk blog!

In our final week before half-term, we have been continuing to learn about mm, cm, and metres. We have compared these units to each other and converted between them. Charlie says that he learnt that 115cm was equivalent to 1m and 15cm or 1150mm. Next term we will be looking at perimeter.

In Learning Means the World, we have been listening to and learning about different types of African drums. Fenn didn’t know that the Talking Drum sounded like someone speaking. Nola learnt that African drums were really loud and people used them to communicate across long distances.

In our English lessons we have been learning where we need to use capital letters and have been practicing our dictionary skills by looking up words linked to our Dr K Fisher book we have been reading. Mason is enjoying reading this book, where all the animals write a letter about their problems. Lilly has enjoyed learning about the animals as this book has factual information too.

We have continued our theme of African Art this week and have been producing an oil pastel picture of animals. We are also really excited to be taking our lion masks home. Ellie enjoyed drawing animals with the oil pastels. The outside of the artwork was decorated with various patterns which Jenny really enjoyed drawing.

We hope you all have a fantastic half-term break and look forward to seeing you for the second half of the Spring term.
