We have had so much fun with our learning this week!

On Tuesday, all of Year 3 spent the day at Ripon Cathedral for the Sacred Space Art Day. For some of our children, this was their first visit to the cathedral and there were some very awestruck faces as we entered and took our seats. We listened to some bible stories in our class groups, all on the theme of the sea, then created our own pieces of art inspired by the stories. Archer said "It was fun, I liked crafting things!". Aylar told us, "I really enjoyed going to the cathedral because we got to do really fun activities with our friends, which was enjoyable."

After lunch, all the schools joined together to create an enormous collage on the floor of the cathedral, full of creatures of the sea and sky!

We have continued to learn about shape in Maths, this week we have been looking at angles, including acute, obtuse and right angles. We also practised some very tricky drawing and measuring of lines, using cm and mm. Sienna found the measuring quite tricky but she says that "The angles were tricky at first, but as it went on it got easier."

In RE we have been thinking about how Hindus celebrate Diwali. On Thursday we looked at some beautiful  examples of rangeli patterns before having a go at creating our own. Jay said "I found it quite hard because I'm used to making them on the floor and they're bigger."

We have started new units in both English and in Guided Reading. Our new English book is called 'What a Waste!' and it has lots of useful and interesting information about environmental waste. In Guided Reading we have started to read 'Ask Dr Fisher' which is a really fun book with lots of interesting information about animals.
