This week in Nidd!

In Maths this week there have been lots of new mathematical words to learn linked to shape. We have learned what horizontal and vertical lines look like, as well as looking at parallel and perpendicular lines. We used this learning to explore 2D shapes and to accurately draw our own.

We are really focusing on punctuation this week in English, making sure that we are using capital letters, full stops, question marks. Scarlet G told us "I really want to practise using punctuation so that I get better at it so that I don't have to think about it any more, I just do it." Jay said, "I never knew that punctuation could change the meaning of a sentence!"

Our Guided Reading text, 'What a Waste' has brought up some very interesting discussions as we consider the impact of pollution in our world. We used dictionaries to look up the meanings of words linked to this.

On Monday, we spent some time with our new Year 4 teacher, Mrs Knight so that we could get to know each other. We wrote our hopes for Year 4 and made a paper chain out of them. Ava D said "I feel a bit nervous and a bit excited for Year 4.". We agreed that we feel a little less nervous now that we have spent some time with Mrs Knight.
