This week in Nidd...

Wow! What an exciting week we have had!

We have been exploring floating and sinking in Science. Harper told us, "We tested lots of different objects and some of them floated but some of them sank rapidly." Tim was surprised that the paper clip sank "because it's not heavy I thought it would float." We started to discover that some shapes and materials floated better than others.

In English we have started to plan our own myths, following the structure of the myths we have been reading. We had already created our characters and our story settings, so then it was time to create a problem for our hero to solve. We cannot wait to share our finished myths next week!

In Maths we have continued addition and subtraction. We used 2 and 3 digit numbers so it was really important to make sure we wrote the digits in the correct columns.

Thursday was especially exciting as it was Michael Rosen day. We spent the day reading, listening to and writing our own poetry. We created riddles in poem form and challenged our friends to guess the food we were describing. The day got even more exciting with a visit from the ice cream van! As you can see from the photo, we really enjoyed them! George Mc said "Mine was really delicious," and Tessa said "I wish we had it every day!"
