This week in Nidd

What have we been up to this week...?
In Science we were set a challenge last Friday. Each pair was given a ball of plasticine which sunk to the bottom of a tub of water. Our challenge was to make it float, without adding or taking anything away. We soon discovered that the shape of the plasticine was the secret to making it float! We continued our exploration into floating and sinking on Tuesday when we learnt about the Greek mathematician Archimedes and his principle of displacement.
Our RE lesson this week involved looking at a Kenning poem that described '18 things that Christians believe God is'. We had to think deeply about whether the lines from the poem were describing the Father, Son or Holy Spirit.
We have been very busy practising our songs for the Y3 and 4 Christmas performance. There will be two performances of this taking place on Tuesday 9th December 2:00 - 3:00pm and 5:30 - 6:30pm. The evening performance is optional but we hope that as many as children as possible will able to take part. This is always a very special and atmospheric evening.
Please see below for more dates for your diary.
Christmas Craft afternoon - Friday 12th December 2.30 - 3.30pm
Year 3 Christmas party - Monday 15th December in the afternoon. Children can come in party clothes but please be aware that they will still be going out to play at break time and lunch so children will need weather appropriate footwear.
