Nidd News!

We may have only had a four-day week, but we packed it full of incredible learning experiences!

In our Learning Means the World unit, we embarked on a fascinating journey to ancient Greece, investigating the rival city-states of Athens and Sparta. We discovered the dramatic differences in their lifestyles, governments, and, critically, their approaches to education.

The ultimate challenge was next: Which city-state would we choose to call home? This sparked a lively debate, as the decision was trickier than it seemed! For example, Aleksandra was initially convinced she wanted to be an Athenian... until she discovered that Athenian girls couldn't go to school! The children did a brilliant job weighing the pros and cons of each society.

We had a very exciting morning on Thursday with Ms. Needham as we kicked off our new Art project! As you can see from the picture, the children were immersed in learning how to work with clay to make traditional coil pots.

We are now patiently waiting for them to dry, after which we will begin the best part: decorating them with the fantastic patterns we have designed. We are eagerly awaiting the final results!

Continuing our RE unit, we explored the important Christian sacrament of Baptism. We learnt about the key similarities and differences between adult and infant baptisms, discussing the significance of water and its powerful connection to the Holy Trinity.

Our week ended on a wonderful high note with our 'Open Book' Afternoon. It was fantastic to see so many parents join us, and the children were so excited and proud to share their fantastic work and learning journey from this term. Thank you to all who attended!
