Aire Class Blog
Welcome to our Aire Class blog.
This week we have started a new topic called Poetry Pie. We have been reading funny and serious poems and poems that make no sense at all! We have also been looking at how to perform a poem by changing our voices and using our bodies to “act” out a poem. Zara likes the repetition of the Poetry Pie poem by Roger McGough. Olivia enjoyed acting out her chosen poem and using different voices.
We have continued to learn about sound this week and focused on volume in our lesson. We have thought about what makes a sound loud or quiet, and we can make comparisons between sounds. We also saw first-hand how vibrations work by placing uncooked rice on a drum and hitting the drum softly and then hard. Messy! Harriet says it was really messy because the rice flew up into the air when the drum was hit hard. Olivia noticed that when the drum was hit hard the rice bounced up high and when the drum was hit softly the rice barely moved.
Our Learning Means the World Geography has now switched from learning about Brazil to looking at the human and physical features of Scotland. Max was really happy when he found out we would be looking at Scotland as it is one of his favourite places. Brooke is excited to learn more about Scotland as she would like to go there. We have also been discussing the folklore surrounding the Loch Ness Monster. Aire class seems divided at the moment on whether there is any truth behind the stories!
In R.E we have been learning about Sikhism and the 5 K’s. Zach says we have been learning about Guru Nanak and the other 10 Gurus. We all chose a particular Guru each, and we made a concept card with additional information about that Guru’s life and work. Aryan says that some of the words are quite tricky to understand and say.
