Aire Class Blog

Welcome to our Aire Class blog.

This week we have been reading a new story called The Paper Bag Prince by Colin Thompson. We have been exploring different themes such as destruction and rejuvenation, observing how the story and illustrations evolve throughout the book as the story of a strange man and rubbish dump evolves.

In Learning Means the World we have started to learn about slavery, both in the past and the present. We gave some of the class a task where they needed to copy a piece of writing, in silence, about the history of the paper clip while the rest of the class were given colouring in sheets and were allowed to chat. This exercise created some fascinating opinions about the fairness of the task. Olivia and Bella both explained that they felt guilty as they were having fun, and they didn't feel that was right.

In Maths, we have started to learn about money. So far, we have looked at writing monetary amounts as decimals and converting between pounds and pence.

We finished learning about Sikhism in RE and are now looking at the broader world view and how different religions make up the culture of Ripon.
