Aire Class Blog

We have started our new book, Blue John by Berlie Doherty, this week. It has been exciting making predictions and discussing the consequences of Blue John choosing to leave the Queen of Darkness back in the cave.

We have also started our new multiplication and division topic in Maths with a focus on the 3 and 6 times tables this week. Combined with our rolling numbers and fluency practice, we have been working hard to increase our recall of multiplication facts. If you are able to continue to practice times tables outside of school, it will really benefit in class work.

Our new Learning Means the World Topic is a conflict-based topic called Law and Order. We have started to look at democracy, rules and rights. It was very interesting to hear about why the class thought there were rules and to listen to rules they have at home.

Our new RE topic is based around the big question: What is it like to be a Sikh in Britain today. We have started exploring new vocabulary such a gurdwara, guru, langar and have made links between Sikhism and other religions.

Our class library this half-term is focussed on non-fiction and poetry. Our class librarians this week are Ava D and Archer. Ava D brought a book from home which she loves which contains poetry and confidently read it to our class.

The roles in The Angel Who Nearly Missed It All have been cast and shared with the Year group. Scripts have been given out but will remain in school initially so that the children can use them for our rehearsals. Information about costumes and props will be sent home in a few weeks. The school will be able to provide the majority of the costumes. However, we will send information home about what needs to be worn with them!
