Maths
This week, we have been concentrating on the 6, 7 and 11 times tables. The class has done a fantastic job noticing the patterns within each sequence and using these to remember facts more confidently. We looked closely at how the numbers increase, which digits repeat, and how some of the patterns connect to times tables they already know.
English
In our English lessons, we have been preparing for the final version of our Blue John–inspired stories. Our main aim has been to use descriptive tools such as similes, strong verbs and expanded noun phrases to make our underwater settings feel real and exciting. The children have been working carefully to create vivid images in the reader’s mind, describing glittering caves, glowing pools and unusual underwater creatures. We’re really looking forward to reading the completed stories next week.
Anti-Bullying Week
As part of Anti-Bullying Week, we talked together about what bullying is, how it can affect people and the steps we can take to make sure our classroom is a safe and friendly place. The children designed thoughtful posters promoting kindness, respect and speaking up for others.
Learning Means the World – Democracy
Linked to our LMTW curriculum, we explored the idea of democracy. We learnt where it came from, why it matters and how it shapes everyday decisions. The children took part in a class debate and finished with a vote so they could experience democracy in action. They expressed their ideas clearly and listened carefully to one another.
RE
In RE, we studied the Mool Mantra, the opening prayer in the Guru Granth Sahib, and discussed the Sikh teaching that God is without form. The children produced creative artwork showing this belief, using colours, shapes and symbols to represent something that cannot be seen.
Christmas
Our Year 4 Christmas party will take place on Wednesday 16th December (afternoon). Children are welcome to come in festive party clothes for the day.
