Happy New Year!
It has been so lovely to have the children back in school and hear all about their adventures over the Christmas Break.
We are starting a new topic on persuasive writing in English, using the book The Day the Crayons Quit by Oliver Jeffers. We have begun to get to know the text and have created text maps to familiarise ourselves with the individual letters the crayons have written to Duncan.
We have started our second part of the Multiplication and Division topic in Maths. The focus this week has been on using factors and factor pairs to help solve multiplication questions mentally.
Our new Guided Reading book is The Hodgeheg by Dick King Smith. We have used the book to reiterate the importance of the Green Cross Code as this is a fundamental part of the story!
In Learning Means the World, the new topic is called Cry Freedom. This topic will discuss and investigate historical and modern-day slavery.
In PE, the class have started their netball topic and have really enjoyed gaining confidence in learning new skills.
Please note that our PE days have changed to Monday and Wednesday.
Please ensure that children are in appropriate footwear, with long hair tied up and earrings must be removed. We are also doing gymnastics, which will be done in bare feet.
We have new homework for this term.
Please can any homework books that have not yet been brought back after the Christmas break be returned, so that new homework can be given out!
