Swale news

Welcome to Swale's weekly blog!

We have had a great week in Swale and have enjoyed the warmer weather, so some of our learning could take place outside.

English

In English, we have continued using Flotsam to help us with our learning about prepositions and expanded noun phrases. Ivy said she has enjoyed our English book as picture books have allowed her more freedom to write creatively.

Maths

In Maths, we have been learning about decimals and using place value tables to support our learning. We have been working hard using our problem solving and reasoning skills. Francesca has found using physical resources really helpful in learning about decimals. On Fridays, we have been doing active maths to support us with times tables and problem-solving. This has been an excellent opportunity to work in teams. Daisy said she has enjoyed her maths and using her times table knowledge to help her solve the clues.

Learning means the World

We have all been enjoying our learning in Learning Means the World. In Geography, we have been learning about the different physical and human features in Brazil. Sophie said she enjoyed learning about different countries and comparing them to the area we live in. In Music, we have been learning about carnival music and beats and all the children enjoyed thinking about they already know about carnivals and were surprised to find out how it relates to Lent. In Science, we have started learning about sound and we are going to be building up to a fair test experiment.

PE

This term we are developing our football and tennis skills. We have been practising sending and receiving the ball and Toby said learning new football skills is amazing!
