Swale News

What a Fantastic Week!

We have had another brilliant week of learning in Swale!

English
This week, we have been completing our non-chronological reports on Polar Bears. The children have worked hard on editing their writing and thinking carefully about how to present and design their reports so that they are both informative and eye-catching.

Guided Reading
We have continued reading Squishy McFluff and focused on the reading skill inference. The children have been detectives, looking for clues in the text and discussing how the author shows a character’s actions and emotions. Poppy was a super detective finding clues about why the girl was upset!

Learning Means the World – Science Focus
In science, the children have loved building electronic circuits! They have been challenged to think about how to make a bulb brighter or dimmer, showing fantastic curiosity and problem-solving skills. Bethany and Jennifer had to do a lot of problem-solving to work out why their circuit wouldn't work but they worked as a super team to solve this!

RE
Our focus in RE has been on covenants and the promises God made to His people. This led us to think about our own class agreement and how we can make our school a better place. We decided to work especially hard on reducing litter and making sure we recycle as much as possible. I am sure our newly elected Eco-Warrior will keep us on track with that!

Maths
In maths, we have continued our work on place value. The children have been practising ordering numbers up to 10,000 in both ascending and descending order and practising their rounding to the nearest 10.

It has been a week full of creativity, investigation, and thoughtful discussions and we are so proud of the children’s effort and enthusiasm!
