Swale News

Welcome to December!

It’s amazing how quickly this year has gone, and we can’t believe December has arrived already!

English – Biography

We have begun diving into our new text, Fantastically Great Women Who Changed the World. This fascinating non-fiction book introduces us to the lives of remarkable women through a collection of biographies.

We have been learning all about the features of a biography, how it differs from an autobiography, and the reasons why biographies are written. So far, we’ve read about Rosa Parks, Agent Fifi, Frida Kahlo, Gertrude Ederle, Mary Anning, and Sacagawea.

The children have been working on organising information in chronological order and using visual pathways to help structure and understand events clearly.

Maths – Multiplication and Division Mastery

In Maths, we are wrapping up our unit on multiplication and division. We have been developing strategies for multiplying three numbers together and practising these skills regularly. Times tables continue to be a key focus, so we’re keeping up with frequent repetition and recall activities!
