Swale news

A busy week in Swale!

This week in Swale Class we have been very busy with our learning across the curriculum.

In Maths, we have been learning how to divide by 10 and 100. We used our place value knowledge to help us understand how digits move when dividing. We also used base ten resources to support our learning and help us see what was happening to the numbers.

In English, we have been exploring personification and persuasive writing. We have been using our new skills to write a persuasive letter to Mrs Sanderson asking for an extra break. We made sure to include strong reasons and rhetorical questions such as “Wouldn’t an extra break help us concentrate better in our lessons?”

In PE, we have been developing our gymnastics skills. We practised creating sequences and learnt how to include a bunny hop, focusing on balance, control and smooth movements.

In RE, we have been learning about the 10 Gurus in Sikhism. We explored their important contributions to the development of the faith and how this helps us understand Sikh beliefs today.

During Guided Reading, we have been using our prediction skills. We predicted what might happen in our new book, The Hodgeheg, by looking at the title, illustrations and blurb.

Our new class librarians Savannah and Poppy have been busy tidying our class library and promoting books they think our class would enjoy.
