Ouse's News!

We have had another busy week in Ouse!

In English, we read our new text, 'Mrs Armitage and the Big Wave' by Quentin Blake. We learnt that our text is a cumulative, which is where you add more and more to the same thing. In the story, Mrs Armitage adds more and more to what she has in the ocean!

In Maths, we started our new unit 'Space'. We named a range of 2D and 3D shapes and discussed their properties. We spotted the odd one in a set of shapes and used our shape knowledge to explain why we chose the odd ones.

In Mastering Number we have been learning about the composition of odd numbers. We learnt that they are composed of 2s and 1 extra block by looking at the shape made by the odd Numberblocks.

In Learning Means the World we researched Scarborough, making a list of the pros and cons of living in a seaside town. We discussed whether we would like to live by the sea and as a class debated this.

We are continuing to practice our Christmas Play. On Friday you will receive your child's line/s (if applicable, please note some parts are non-speaking) in their reading record. It would be great if you could practice these at home.
