Ouse News!

It has been another busy week in Year 2, filled with hands-on learning and thoughtful discussions. Here is a look at what we have been up to:

Maths

We have started off a new unit 'Mass, Capacity and Temperature'. We have been using scales to measure a variety of objects. We've been learning to distinguish between grams and kilograms.

English

We have been exploring the apostrophe for contraction. We looked at how two words can be squashed together to make one (like do not becoming don't).

Learning Means the World

In Learning Means the World we have looked at animal diets. We categorised animals into three groups: carnivores, herbivores and omnivores. We also discussed how an animal's teeth are shaped to suit their diet. For example, carnivores have sharp teeth.

RE

This week we read the story 'Let's be Friends Again' by Hans Wilhelm. We talked about why forgiveness is important and shared practical ways we can show forgiveness to our friends and family in daily life.

PE

We were incredibly lucky to have a visit from Joe (Primary All Stars) for a cricket session. From gripping the bat correctly to sharpening our fielding skills, everyone got stuck in and showed great sportsmanship.

Library Visit

We also enjoyed our trip to Ripon Library. Everyone chose a special book to take home, and we even picked out a few new additions for our classroom library.

PE Kit - Change of Day

Children need to come to school in their PE kit on Monday 23rd March as we have an exciting golf session arranged!
