Litton Class Blog

This week we have had such a range of different activities going on - the week seems to have flown by!

We started the week looking at a new writing unit entitled 'Paraphanalia' - this is based on a short film and so we have looked at a range of features used in film (sound, lighting camera angles) and the effect they have on the audience - we have then looked at how to incorporate these same features within our writing. Mina talked about how the atmosphere was created using light and dark and how this represented the feelings of the characters. In maths, we have looked at a range of bar and line graphs. As part of this, children have created some bar graphs and have enjoyed the precision needed in doing so. Aria blew us away with the level of care and attention she took in getting her graph correct!

On Tuesday Matt visited us to talk about our RE unit and to discuss why different people may believe in God. This was fascinating and prompted some excellent discussion on Friday in our lesson where we looked at the terms 'Theist' 'Atheist' and 'Agnostic'. The children quizzed Mrs Gomes, Mrs Wells, Mrs Penny and even Jed (our visiting guitar teacher) which category they would place themselves in. Charlotte made a really insightful comment that at different points in life, you may identify in a different way.

Wednesday was National Numeracy Day - we looked at creating a fact file all about ourselves using numbers as well as using money and a budget to plan a party! We really enjoyed this and m=it made Luis realise how difficult it can be to not overspend!

Friday has seen us all coming in wearing our hats for Dementia awareness day. As part of this we have taken part in a workshop highlighting the work of this important charity.

We hope you all have a wonderful half term and look forward to seeing you all soon!
