Time is flying by in Year 6 and we cannot believe we only have 3 weeks left!
We have really enjoyed our Karate sessions on a Friday and so many children have shown some real skill here - perhaps we will see some of them taking this further as they go on into high school.
In English, we have now written our first draft of our narrative piece from Kensuke's Kingdom. Keegan wrote for his introduction ...
'Seconds turned into minutes. Minutes transitioned into hours. Hours enveloped into days. It felt like eternity, an infinite time loop, where time froze… I began to wonder, am I moving or am I dreaming ? CRASH !!! Rocks slammed against the side of the boat . Boom !!! Waves thrashed against the platform of the boat. Bang !!! Thunder and lightning violently erupted, decapitating the mast and main sail. The lightning left a burn mark on the deck. Overboard. I was thrown into the sea. Before I knew it, the icy cold water froze my body. I felt my soul leave my body. On the horizon, I could see Peggy Sue drifting off into the wide open sea.'
In RE, we have been learning all about pilgrimages - we discussed why people might go on a pilgrimage before looking at 4 key religious journeys from Islam, Judaism, Hinduism and Sikhism. Tamann had so many insightful things to contribute. He told us that people may go on a special journey when they have suffered a bereavement and that a pilgrimage can make people feel closer to their god.
Production rehearsals continue to go well! We hope you all have your tissues at the ready! Please look out for an email regarding tickets.
