A Splash of Colour and Incredible Inventions!

What a truly fabulous week it has been. The Year 6 classroom has been buzzing with creativity, problem-solving, and a massive splash of colour! We are so proud of everything you have achieved this week.

The Colour Run: A Fundraising Sensation! 🌈

Last Friday, we had the most amazing time at our school fundraiser, The Colour Run!

The field was a blur of cheering, laughter, and rainbow powder. It was wonderful to see everyone giving it their all, running laps, and getting absolutely covered in every colour imaginable. A huge well done to every single member of Litton Class for your energy and enthusiasm—you made it a day to remember!

And the best news? We have raised an incredible amount of money for our school library. Please keep sending any sponsorship money in!

Skye loved all the excitement of the day and the build up to it but what she loved the most was seeing Mrs Sanderson running!

English: Cracking Contraptions and Expanded Noun Phrases 🧀

This week in English, we became inventors and descriptive writers! We have been watching clips of the legendary duo, Wallace and Gromit, and analysing their wonderfully ridiculous inventions.

Our writing focus has been on using expanded noun phrases to describe these contraptions in incredible detail.

The descriptions have been fantastic, making the reader feel like they could reach out and touch the inventions!

Maths: Back to Basics and Beyond ➕➖

We’ve moved into a new unit in Maths: Addition and Subtraction. We have been revisiting key strategies and looking at how to solve multi-step problems.

PE & PSHE: Balance and Business 🤸‍♀️👩‍🍳

In P.E., we’ve been working hard on our balancing skills. This isn't as easy as it sounds! We have been exploring different levels and points of balance, challenging ourselves to hold difficult poses for longer and longer periods. Next week, we will start to link these moves into short sequences.

Our PSHE lesson this week was a highlight! Working in small groups, you were challenged to design a brand-new catering company. This involved:

  1. Creating a catchy company name.
  2. Designing a professional logo.
  3. Developing a delicious, healthy, and exciting menu.
  4. Presenting your entire business plan to the rest of the class.

We had some amazing ideas. Well done for showing brilliant teamwork, creativity, and excellent presentation skills!

Have a fantastic weekend, everyone!
