Lest We Forget: Remembrance and Reflection 🕊️

This week, the children of Litton Class showed great respect and maturity during our Remembrance Day assembly in the hall. It was a poignant moment for us all to reflect on the incredible bravery and courage shown by soldiers, both past and present.

A huge thank-you goes to Ben, who did a super job presenting our school wreath, which is now laid respectfully in Spa Gardens.

In our 'Learning Means the World' topic, which is linked to War, we enjoyed writing some truly beautiful poems themed around Remembrance. We were so impressed with everyone's effort, but this week's Praise child is Skye for her exceptionally impressive and sensitive work. Well done, Skye!

 

Mythical Adventures with Merlin! 🐉

Our writing this week has seen the children become completely immersed in the wonderful genre of Merlin! They have thoroughly enjoyed exploring the myths and have now begun the exciting task of writing about some incredible Mythical Beasts. We can't wait to share their fantastical stories with you soon!

 

Mastering Maths: Long Division and Multiples ➗

In Maths, we're really getting to grips with long division! It's a tricky but essential skill. As part of this, we've been learning a super method for finding the first 10 multiples for any given two-digit number by using partitioning. This skill is proving to be a huge help for the children as they move on to dividing those larger numbers—it makes the process so much smoother!

 

Poetic Fun on Michael Rosen Day! 🐻

Thursday was dedicated to celebrating the great work of the wonderful poet and writer, Michael Rosen! We really got stuck in with all things poetry. We created and performed some fantastic poems entitled, 'We're Going on a Food Hunt' which, as you can imagine, took the fun form of the original 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'! We also wrote some beautiful poems all about our favourite foods and the special memories they evoke.

 

Ice Cream and Fancy Dress for Children in Need! 🍦

What a fantastic end to the week! Thank you so much to all of you who donated to the super Children in Need charity. Your generosity allowed us all to enjoy a tasty treat of ice cream on Thursday! We also loved the opportunity to dress up as we fancy on Friday—the costumes were brilliant!
