Litton Class Blog
Welcome back to the Litton Class blog! We have had an incredibly busy and exciting week in Year 6. From cracking complex mathematical codes to celebrating our favourite stories, the classroom has been buzzing with energy.
Maths: Cracking the Code with Algebra
This week, we have been diving headfirst into the world of algebra and formulas. It can sound a bit intimidating at first, but Litton Class tackled finding the "unknown" brilliantly!
-
Understanding Formulas: We explored how letters can represent numbers and how to balance equations.
-
SATs Prep: To make sure we are fully prepared, we put our new knowledge to the test by tackling some real Year 6 SATs questions. The children showed great resilience and problem-solving skills!
English: Inspiring Biographies
In English, our focus has been on non-fiction writing. We have been researching and writing biographies about our chosen inspirational people.
It has been wonderful to see the wide variety of figures the children look up to. They have worked hard on structuring their writing, using formal language, and organising their paragraphs chronologically to bring these life stories to the page.
Science: Sparking Curiosity
We got incredibly hands-on in Science this week! We brought out the electrical equipment and challenged the class to build their own working electrical circuits.
The classroom was lit up—literally!—as the children experimented with wires, batteries, and bulbs to see how electricity flows. It was fantastic to see them using trial and error to figure out how to make their circuits complete.
World Book Day: Costumes and Quests!
Finally, we ended the week with a spectacular World Book Day. We dedicated the entire day to celebrating our love for reading, and the costumes were absolutely fab! Verdant, made an awesome Percy Jackson, and Lily, was incredibly creative and came dressed as an old lady from a book she had written herself! While we loved admiring everyone's outfits, the absolute highlight of the day was our book-themed treasure hunt around the school. The children worked in teams to solve literary clues and track down the hidden "treasure."
It has been a fantastic week of hard work and creativity in Litton Class. We are so proud of everything the children have achieved!
