Wharfe Class Blog

What a busy week in Wharfe!
We have been incredibly busy in Wharfe this week. We have been finishing off our baseline assessments and slowly getting into our Year 6 routines. The class has handled this very well and have been super role models for the rest of the school. Well done Wharfe! You have made me very proud indeed.
As you can see from our picture, we have begun a new interesting writing topic about Wallace and Gromit's Cracking Contraptions. We have been fascinated by how an information text is put together and Theo has even brought a copy of another Haynes manual for us to have a look at. Thank you, Theo! We have all had a little giggle at the clips of Wallace and Gromit too!
In Maths, we have continued our journey through place value into even bigger numbers. We have been doing a lot of problem-solving involving number lines and rounding numbers. It has been tricky, but once again I have been impressed with the resilience being shown when things get tough.
In Learning Means the World we have been looking at the inventions of musical instruments and creating our own fact files on violins and trumpets. The children have been intrigued by how old some of these inventions are and how they have evolved over time into the instruments that we know today.
We have been enjoying our PE lesson with Mr Banks this year. Wharfe were complimented on their behaviour and team work whilst enjoying learning how to play tag rugby. Jacob said, 'My favourite game was when we were trying to get past each other through the defensive line. It was so much fun. I can't wait for next week.'
We are very excited about our 'Colour Run' tomorrow so watch this space for some amazing photographs in our blog next week.
