Ribble's Class Blog

Another wonderful week in Ribble!
In English, we have been reading more chapters from Varjak Paw. We have been developing different features of writing by creating ‘Wanted Descriptions’ using synonyms, correctly punctuated speech and character descriptions. Who knew the life of a Mesopotamian Blue cat would be so interesting!
In Maths, we have been continuing with our ‘Shape’ topic by looking at angles in lots of detail. We have learnt how to use protractors which seemed complicated at first but, with hard work and dedication, we are feeling a lot more confident. As well as this, we have been finding missing angles around a point and a straight line. Rohini explains that there are lots of steps involved but it is a fun subject!
We have continued our board game adventure and Katelynne declared, ‘It was so fun to look at all of the different types of board games through our research!’ The children are thoroughly enjoying this creative opportunity and have had the chance to research different board game companies to get even more inspiration.
In Ribble, we love creating presentations and this week we created a ‘Google Slides’ about the serious topic of air pollution. We researched the air pollution in Ripon, factors that contribute to this pollution type and we explored how we could reduce the pollution as a country. We are looking forward to finishing these presentations and showing them to the class. Freddie was particularly excited because we learnt how to introduce animations and transitions to make our slideshow more engaging. As well as this, we have dived into the world of a nurdle and created some amazing, imaginative cartoon strips to show the journey that they go on.
In our current book in Guided Reading, we have just met a new character. This has caused a lot of great conversation in Ribble because lots of children have come up with some great predictions, which are all very different from each others.
