Rehearsals, a geography field trip and more!
This week has been in a flash!
In Maths we delved into a new topic of 'Volume'. This is a new concept for most people and I was very impressed with the way everyone tackled the questions. We used concrete manipulatives to build different shapes and had meaningful discussions about how the volume might change if we add or remove cubes.
On Wednesday, Ribble and Wensley had SUCH a wonderful time on the trip. We ventured around Ripon and participated in lots of different field trip activities, including a traffic survey, Himalayan balsam bashing and using compasses to draw the surrounding areas. We would like to thank the Friends of Hell Wath, who showed us how to remove the Himalayan balsam and gave up their time to teach us even more about the importance of conservation. Jude said it was possibly one of the best days at school that he has had and this is evident in the pictures attached below!
As well as this, it has been lovely to see Year 5 acting so maturely during long afternoons of rehearsals. We have been working hard to learn the lyrics to multiple songs for the Year 6 production and the time and dedication has definitely paid off! Year 6 were amazing, and it was lovely to see a lot of Year 5 observing in admiration.
