The Ribble Report

A Great Return!

What a brilliant week back it has been!

Our biggest highlight was finishing Guided Reading book - Michael Morpurgo's 'Cool'. The children were completely hooked right up until the very last page, and we were so happy to hear that Zach said it was his favourite book! We’re now looking forward to doing some fun and creative activities based around the ending to really finish our journey with the book.

In Maths, we are back to tackling big calculations and have focused on multiplying and dividing numbers by 10, 100, and 1,000. These skills are vital for future topics, and the children have been working hard to master them.

In English, we started looking at a brand new non-fiction text. We spent time recapping all the key features a non-fiction text should have (like headings, captions, and engaging layouts), and we explored the purpose and audience of the text. We even did a tough challenge where the children had to summarise a whole page of information onto a tiny bookmark. They all found this tricky, but it was a great way to practice picking out only the most important facts!
