The Ribble Report

We have been learning every minute this week in Ribble!
In English, we have spent a lot of time writing our final version of our very own monster stories. Some of the descriptions have been extraordinary so we have really been able to imagine the characters in our minds and picture the scenes happening. We have been making sure that we add lots of the grammatical features that we have been working on over the previous weeks.
In Maths, we have been multiplying with fractions, finding fractions of amounts, finding the value of the whole and using fractions as operators. The children have remembered so much from the last fraction topic, and it is truly showing in their work.
In the classroom we have some wonderful pieces of work displayed from our Learning Means the World sessions. The children used detailed information sheets to find out key pieces of information about both New York and Sydney. It was very interesting to compare the two cosmopolitan cities! Marcel was particularly intrigued by the sheer size of some of the buildings!
Guided Reading this week has been a joy. We have read some more chapters of 'Danny Chung does not do maths' and we are all loving it (including Miss Grayson)! We have explained what our first impressions are of the characters, learnt lots of new vocabulary and had a lot of laughs!
In Art, as always, the children have had so much fun! They have started to create their own skyscrapers by creating 3D shape nets. This took focus and concentration, but we are excited to continue next week!
