The Ribble Report
The children have been pushing on in the final week before half term!
In maths this week, we have been looking at the start of our decimals and percentages topic. It was a joy to hear Aryan exclaim 'yesss!' when it was announced to the class. The positivity and excitement has clearly spread through the other children too, as the lessons have been incredibly positive. So far we have introduced the concept of tenths, hundredths, partitioned them in lots of ways as well as explored the relationship they can have with fractions.
In 'Learning Means The World', we used Google Earth to explore the human and physical features of Sydney. Ribble then worked on creating Google Slides presentations about human and physical features of their choice. They used the internet to collect facts and images. Eddie even did some research at home and brought it in to help him and Mael - Miss Grayson was SO impressed!
In Science, we drew our table of results and wrote conclusions to our investigations. It was a delight to see lots of children use great scientific vocabulary such as, saturation point, absorbent and volume.
On Thursday in English, the children did some role play. We first looked at a job advert to introduce our new topic, which will be revealed soon. After this, children then wrote creative, sensible and purposeful questions to ask their partner in the 'interview process' to test weather they would be fit for the role. We presented these to the class and it took a lot of confidence. I was very impressed with everyone's efforts - well done!
