The Ribble Report

What an incredible first week back after half-term!

In Learning Means the World, we have officially kicked off our brand-new topic, 'Global Warning,' and the classroom is already buzzing. Marcel said he said that 'it is going to be fun because there is so much Geography'. So far, we have been learning all about pollution by defining what it is and spotting different pollutants and their sources in photos. We also investigated the recycling process for paper, taking notes and turning our research into wonderful story maps to show the journey.

In English, we have been immersing ourselves further into the book 'Shackleton’s Journey.' We explored how the different page layouts are used to keep the reader engaged and interested in the story. We also did some fantastic work using subordinating conjunctions in our multi-clause sentences. Handwriting has been a huge focus school and we are really seeing this pay off in the books!

Over in Maths, we have been working very hard on our understanding of thousandths. This can be a tricky concept, but the children have shown great resilience in understanding the place value of these tiny parts of a whole.

I am also particularly proud of the work we have done in RE. Every child created a brilliant A3 double-page spread to present everything they have learnt over the last half-term. I am looking forward to presenting these in class and letting them shine. There are some truly outstanding pieces of work - well done to everyone for such a hardworking week!
