Wensley Class Blog

Library Legends!

The highlight of this week was undoubtedly the class's trip to Ripon Library. It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm for books that Wensley have! There was definitely something for everyone there, and it was great to just immerse ourselves in literature for some time. I also loved seeing some children showing their maturity by asking for help to find books similar to their favourite authors from Harriet, the librarian. Please remember to return your book in the next three weeks, and hopefully take out some more!

In English, we have been writing our own, amended versions of 'Hansel and Gretel', and trying to bring varied sentence lengths, repetition, contrasting adjectives, relative clauses, speech punctuation, (and more!)  together to create some 'darkly brilliant' final pieces. The blanket of silence that overcame the class as they focused on their independent writing showed their determination to do their best.

In Maths, we have been exploring factors and prime numbers. We learned that any number that is not prime is called a composite number. The fact that all prime numbers (apart from 2) are odd, but not all odd numbers are prime led to some super discussions, as did the question of whether 1 is a prime number.

In Learning Means The World, we have rounded off learning about space by learning about the development and importance of satellite technology. The realisation that they would be unable to watch their favourite shows on Netflix without it definitely stuck in some minds!

Finally, it's hard to believe that a whole eight weeks have gone by since the year started! Thank you to every single member of Wonderful Wensley for all their hard work this half-term. It's been lovely sharing successes and next steps at Parents' Evening, and we look forward to continuing our learning journey after the holidays!
