Wensley Class Blog

Merry Christmas!

We have had a lovely week in Wensley, with lots of fun and excitement at the Christmas party. Rock, paper, scissors snakes may now become a new party staple! Well done to all the games winners, the fantastic dancers, and everybody who contributed to a very festive morning.

In English, we completed our Christmas poems. I am sure you will agree that the class created some fantastically evocative work, which really captures the contrasting hectic and peaceful elements of different parts of the season.

In maths, we have completed our fractions unit. We then worked in pairs going over our key learning from the topic; it is amazing how much we have learnt over the last couple of months. In January, we will be returning to multiplication and division.

In science, we conducted a class experiment to see which was the best insulator to keep water warm. We wrapped five different cups in various materials. In our experiment, cotton wool was the most successful, which surprised many of the children who had predicted that tin foil would be the best insulator. We then worked really hard to create some accurate line graphs to show the fall in temperature of each cup. The class should be proud of their efforts, because accurate plotting made it a challenging assignment.

Finally, thank you for all the very generous gifts the adults have received. We hope you all have a very merry Christmas!
