Wensley Class Blog

Cosmopolitan Superstars!

We've had a most productive week in Wensley! In English, the children really loved exploring the story of Beowulf through a 'storyteller' retelling, and some fantastic freeze-frame drama work.  We've since been discussing our likes and dislikes of Beowulf, and looking up some fantastic vocabulary, such as 'loathsome' and 'brandished', which will really enrich our own stories.

In maths, the class have really shown considerable perseverance to tackle 3 digit x 2 digit and 4 digit x 2 digit multiplication. It's been really special to see the breakthroughs and pride children are showing as they improve each lesson. If anybody would like some support to help with their home learning, the White Rose lesson videos for this unit may be of help.  White Rose Home Learning

In Learning Means The World, we have looked at the significance of Ellis Island, and Irish immigration to New York City following the Irish Potato Famine. We have learnt about Annie Moore, the first immigrant ever processed at Ellis Island, and in PSHE explored the importance of listening, asking questions and respecting others, especially those who may seem different to ourselves. As Hemanika says, 'We are cosmopolitan!'.

In PE, we have been fortunate to have staff from Harrogate Town to come and support our gymnastic lessons this half-term. We look forward to collaborating with them to create some great lessons over the upcoming weeks.

Have a lovely weekend!
