Wensley Class Blog
Safer Internet Day
We had a fascinating Collective Worship about how to use AI safely, which led to a really rich discussion in class. Firstly, we looked at the proposal to ban social media for under-16s. Many in the class had quite strong opinions about this, on both sides of the argument, but were able to express their views respectfully. After that, we learnt more about AI—in particular, chatbots—and used 'vote with your feet' to express our opinions on different statements. Children stood below a 'washing line' to show if things were 'okay', 'not okay' or 'it depends', and were then asked to justify their positions.
In Maths, the class has tackled decimals brilliantly. It was great to hear Lily declare, "I thought decimals were hard, but actually they're really nice!" So far, we’ve looked at the relationship between fractions and decimals, as well as the place value of tenths and hundredths.
In 'Learning Means The World', we used Google Earth to explore the human and physical features of Sydney. The class then worked on creating Google Slides presentations about a human or physical feature of their choice.
In Science, we wrote up the results and conclusions to our super investigations into the absorbency of cotton wool. Please see some pictures below of these being conducted last week.
We hope you have a fantastic and restful half-term, and we look forward to returning for more learning adventures in—hopefully—somewhat better weather!
