Spa Class Blog

Welcome to our Spa Class Blog.
In English we have read the story ‘Super Duper You’. We looked at the book together and made up some actions to go alongside the message of the book “Be bold, be proud, be brilliant… A super duper you”! We also talked about what makes us feel “twinkly” and what makes us feel “brave”. Elijah said “I feel twinkly on my birthday”, and Robyn said “I feel brave when I hug my Mum”. We talked about what makes us different and what makes us the same. Marwa noticed that people had “different coloured eyes” which made us different, Noah said that we are the same as “we are all people”. This week Rudi brought in a book to share with the class all about Spiders, it was very interesting, we learnt that there are more than 3000 different kinds of Spiders in Europe!
This week in Phonics we sang Hey, Diddle, Diddle. The children learnt all the actions and even acted it out in provision with the stick puppets.
For Maths we learnt all about yellow and green. For the first half of the week we focused on yellow – Jacob, Theo, Emily and Robyn worked hard to make a yellow lemonade stand in our water area, we also made snakes using yellow paper. We then focused on green and went on a colour hunt, we found lots of green in our classroom!
In RE we learnt about how God created everything and we explored the question “Why did God make the Jellyfish?”. We talked about how we can eat jelly, Daisy said it is “yummy”, but we can’t eat jellyfish, for as Jacob said, “they are poisonous”. Emily thought “God might have made the Jellyfish as he liked being underwater”, and Elijah said “God might have made Jellyfish as he liked splashing in the sea!”.
In Learning Means the World the children explored painting their own self-portraits. They carefully looked at their faces in the mirror and copied what they could see. We also looked at family photos and the children talked about who was in the picture which they really enjoyed, everyone showed super listening! For our Spa Bear circle time this week we explored some of our senses – smell and hearing. We passed around a shaker to hear what it sounded like, Marwa said “Dance music” and Hayden suggested “a dinosaur!”. For smell we passed around some soap to see if we could guess the scent, some suggestions were chocolate, strawberries, blueberries and mint! Spa Bear was impressed with everyone’s good listening skills which we have been working hard on for our Recognition Board this week.
