Super Skell Class Blog!

Welcome to our Skell Class blog!

This week we have been thinking about our class rules. Alice explained that rules are things you need to follow. We talked about having kind hands and kind feet, using quiet voices, walking around the classroom, remembering to tidy up when we have finished using something, sharing with others and being kind. During adult-led learning, we need to remember to show good sitting, use our magnet eyes and listening ears.

In Maths we have looked at the number blocks 1, 2 and 3. We have been subitising amounts, which means we have used our fast eyes to recognise amounts without counting. We have used our fingers to show these amounts.

In Phonics we have spotted rhyming words and words which start with the same sound. We have identified the initial sounds ‘s’ and ‘a’ in our phonic games.

In Learning Means the World we started our new unit of work – ‘Happy to be Me.’ We sang a new song ‘I’m just happy to be me,’ and thought about what we liked. Jenson explained ‘I like tractors,’

We talked about things that no one else may know about us. Ojas explained, ‘I have two TV’s.’ Kaia explained, ‘I go ballet dancing,’ Phoebe explained, ‘I can ride my bike.' We have also talked about what a self-portrait is, ‘It’s a picture of you’ Freddie shared. We have named our facial features and discussed our eye colour.

This week in provision we enjoyed making playdough faces, painting self-portraits, making loose part funny faces and matching picture cards to numicon and numerals. We have spent time making marks, writing notes and sending messages in envelopes. Etta was a very good doctor in the baby clinic and was very good at helping the babies and looking after them.

Outside, we have created obstacle courses, rolled hoops and marked down how far they travelled and collected Autumn objects to create pizza and potions. Cooper created a seating area for us to share our Autumn creations and Vinny and Tom made a car from a barrel.

We have also visited our library and enjoyed sharing books.
