Skell Class Blog

Welcome to our class blog!
In English we have been reading the story ‘Dear Zoo.’ We received some parcels from the zoo and discussed what animals we thought were inside the boxes. ‘A Giraffe is in the tall box,’ Lewis explained. The 'elephant is in the big box. Elephants are very big,’ said Ivar.
We thought about different words to describe the animals. The elephant was ‘too strong,’ the lion was ‘too angry,’ and the frog was ‘too slimy,’
We also made a story map and were able to retell the story!
In Maths we have looked at counting carefully. Suzi squirrel needed help to count. We thought about putting the objects in a line and saying each number's name when touching the objects. We thought about moving the objects as we counted them. We were able to count sounds and objects we could not move.
In Phonics we have looked at the graphemes s, a, t and p. We have identified the initial
sounds in words, identified the grapheme and can say the phoneme. We also tried very hard to write the graphemes!
In Learning Means the World, we looked at the eye, we talked about eye colour and named the different parts of the eye. ‘The pupil is black’ said Tommy. ‘The iris is the coloured part,’ said Vinny. We made observational drawings of our eyes.
In provision we have built and labelled a zoo in the construction area, drawn our own zoo maps, drawn our perfect pet, created a flap to hide an animal for our ‘Dear Zoo’ book, practised threading animals and feeding the crocodile pompoms using tweezers. In maths, we have practised our careful counting.
Outside we had fun using the new climbing equipment!
This weekend don’t forget to look for autumn treasures and return to school in your little bags!
