Skell Class Blog

We have had a great week being dinosaur explorers!

In English, we have read the book ‘Little Kids First Big Book of Dinosaurs.’ We can identify the contents page, ‘It tells you what page you need to look at.’ Said Tommy. We have found dinosaur information and shared it on ‘Top Trumps’ cards. Phoebe explained a ‘T. Rex had sharp teeth.’ Dhruv explained a Diplodocus ‘had big legs.’ The children have also written their own labels for the different parts of the dinosaurs,

In Maths, we have been looking at more, fewer and equal too. The children have been able to identify the groups containing more and fewer. Alice explained that ‘equal means they have the same amount.’

In Phonics, we have looked at the digraph er and the trigraph air. We have read words containing the digraph's mm, bb, gg, pp and tt, such as hammer, rabbit, bigger, puppet and kitten. We have read words such as surf, down coin and fear. We have read and written the tricky words, my, by, all, no, go, are, sure, pure.

In Learning Means the World we have looked at crustaceans. Alistair explained, ‘This means they have a shell.’  Jenson explained the crabs walked side-ways. We found out this was because their knee joints face outwards, unlike ours which face forwards.

We listened to the sound of the sea in shells and experimented with body percussion to make the sounds of the sea.

In provision we have enjoyed exploring our dinosaur museum, making dinosaur information books, finding more and fewer and creating playdough dinosaurs.
