Skell Class Blog

Welcome to the Skell Class blog! We have taken part in Safer Internet week. We have found out how to stay safe when using AI to listen to music.
In English, we read the book ‘Bumpus, Jumpus, Dinosaurmpus.’ We talked about how the dinosaurs were moving in the story and used instruments to show the different movements. ‘The big drum is for the T-Rex.’ ‘We need to play the bells quickly for the fast dinosaurs.’
We looked at different words to describe how the dinosaurs were moving. We thought Tricerotops would boom, bang and crash.
In Maths, we have looked at different heights. Cooper explained that Omar was the same height. We built different sized towers and used the words taller and shorter to describe them. We have looked at time and challenged ourselves to see how many jumps and claps we could do in one minute.
We have also looked at weight. We can explain that when the scale is lower it means the object is heavier. When the scale is higher, it means the object is lighter.
In Phonics, we have been reading and writing longer words, such as sunset, carpark, farmyard and boxer. We have continued to read the trick words are, sure, pure, into, he, she, we, me, be. We have read sentences containing longer words, such as ‘The chicken hops in the farmyard.’
In Learning Means the World we have continued to find out about crabs. We used the tweezers to carefully pick up pompoms like crabs do with their pincers. We moved like crabs in PE. It was quite tricky to walk sideways.
We enjoyed using the instruments to make the sounds of the sea. We thought of actions so we knew when to play our instruments.
In provision, we have carefully fed the crab using tweezers, painted crab pictures, drawn observational drawings of shells using pencils and on the smart board.
