Skell Class Blog

Welcome to our Skell Class blog!
In English, we enjoyed reading the story ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears.’ We can identify the characters in the story and know a speech bubble can be used to show what a character is saying. We have written our own speech bubbles and retold the story on a map.
In Maths, we have been counting above 20 and looking at the number pattern that keeps ongoing. We have recapped the staircase pattern using the number blocks. ‘It goes up by one more each time.’
We have made finger numbers using 5 and a bit to make 6, 7 and 8 using the stem sentence ‘Six is made of five and one.’
In Phonics, we have been reading and writing words containing our previously learnt sounds. Such as load, down and join. We have recapped the tricky words 'I' and 'the' and written sentences like ‘I can put the coat on.’
In Learning Means the World we have started our new unit ‘No Place Like Home’. We have looked at different types of homes and can name detached, semi-detached, terraced houses and flats. We have named the different rooms inside our homes. ‘A bathroom has a sink and a shower.’ ‘A kitchen has an oven and cupboards.’ ‘A bedroom has a bed.’ ‘In my garage I have bikes.’ Kaia
We have looked at house addresses and how we can send letters to each other using a person's name and address. We have looked at decorating inside our homes and designed our own wallpaper.
In RE, we discussed pancake day and shared our favourite toppings. We have found out about Lent and how Christians believe this is the time to put wrong things right.
In addition, we have painted bears, created brown bag bear puppets, retold the Goldilocks and the Three Bears story using puppets. We enjoyed making a chair for baby bear in the construction area and playdough bears.
